About

Photography is not accidental. It is built.

Harold Horsefall is the photographer behind Thunder Boy Studios, a Calgary boutique portrait studio focused on cinematic, editorial-driven storytelling. His work is defined by deliberate lighting, controlled colour, and strong composition — images designed to feel intentional, polished, and visually distinct.

Harold approaches every session with the mindset of a visual director. He studies pattern, contrast, emotion, and structure before the shutter is pressed. The result is portraiture that feels authored rather than captured: photographs that invite attention, hold presence, and leave a lasting impression.

“Photography is more than exposure—it's colour, emotion, pattern, leading lines, light, dark: it’s about pre-visualization and seeing the photo before taking the picture.”

This philosophy guides his studio work and on-location sessions alike. While known for cinematic portraiture, Harold is equally comfortable documenting live events, community gatherings, and moments that cannot be repeated. His goal is always the same: to create images that clients feel proud to share — photographs people notice, remember, and talk about.

Thunder Boy Studios is built for people who want more than a snapshot. It is for clients who value craft, storytelling, and images that carry emotional weight.
